PATRICK & THIERRY & DENNIS, ARSENAL, 2002 - WELL OFFSIDE PHOTOGRAPHY
Look, we can see Martin lurking there. But let’s not have him ruin it for everyone. It’s at Highbury this. September 17 2002, a Champions League group game against Dortmund. 2–0 to The Arsenal. Freddie and Thierry with the goals. It was weird then, the Champions League. Not one but two group stages. The Gunners breezing through the first, then walloping Roma away in the first game of the second thanks to a Thierry hat-trick. After that? Not a lot. But, again, let’s not have that ruin things. Here you’ve got three of Arsenal’s greatest ever players, three of the finest men to grace English football, plus Martin, at Highbury, wearing that kit. Should’ve won the league that year. Should’ve gone back to back. No need to ruin it, though, not when you can have that on your wall. Not when you can look at Bergkamp looking at Martin like that. Perplexed for eternity.
