While we’re always wary of anything noted as giving “a sideways glance” at anything in a press release, BBC Scotland’s new show A View from the Terrace looks great.

What started as a small podcast project in 2007 has grown into something much bigger – they’re even on the tele now. To promote the new series, they’ve dropped this Wes Anderson-style highlights package (shot and edited by series director Jordan Laird) of Arbroath v Airdrieonians in Scottish League One, and it is, obviously, class.

Give us some symmetrical framing and Futura typeface any day, and we’ll lap it up. Combine that with good laughs and some intimate, knowledgeable looks at the reality and passion of leagues too often forgotten about, and you’ve got us down cold.

“This is a really exciting time for Scottish football and there’s a lot going on in the game,” Laird told The National. “It feels as though there are a lot of people looking at Scottish football and away from the English Premier League, which is getting further and further away from ordinary people.”

Now’s your chance to get stuck in.

BBC Scotland’s A View from the Terrace is available to watch on iPlayer now.
