Nike have continued to mix streetwear and football by releasing a set of Flyknit trainers with Barcelona, PSG, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea.
Each team has been given a home and away colourway, with the Premier League teams getting an additional third. Which is nice for them. Chelsea’s follows their all-blue home kit, with the away version placing a not-so-subtle yellow on white colour. The third sneaker inverts the home colours to give a clean white look and a subtle blue Swoosh.
The Spurs home version takes inspiration from the North London club’s traditional navy shorts, with the away versions being all-white with a light blue Swoosh. Finally, the third kit gets purple lacing on an all-white upper and finished off with an all-black sole that’ll help with keeping them clean.
The Barcelona home and away sneakers are lovely, and are a not-so-subtle nod to the Catalonia city’s reputation as a destination for running enthusiasts. Barça speed merchant Sergi Roberto is a big fan, “I do enjoy running. I run a bit more than my team-mates because I know I need my legs to be active because during the game. The Nike React is a performance shoe, but they also have a lot of style. These are the shoes I could easily use every day.”
The home colourway is an all-blue upper with a white sole with Blaugrana Swoosh finishing them off beautifully. The second Flyknits are an all-yellow affair, drawing inspiration from the club’s current away kit. Both sneakers are finished off with Barcelona’s badge on the tongue, in case anyone wasn’t quite sure which club you support.
For PSG, Nike have delved a little more into past versions of the French club’s kits. Inspired by the 2015–16 season’s away kit, the all-black Flyknit with extremely fancy pink accents is a tour de force. The home sneaker harks back to their traditional blue and red. As with all the Flyknits in this collection, the tongue features the club’s badge.
