Boots have partnered with the five Football Associations of the UK and Ireland for the next three years in a bid to get more women and girls into playing football.
The health and beauty retailer is aiming to use the combined pulling power of the Associations to get more women into the game and, with the World Cup incoming this summer, now is the perfect time to get involved.
Research by Women in Sport shows that 45% of young women feel there aren’t enough role models for them to get into sport, while UEFA has found that 80% of women feel more confident while playing in a football team. From this, Boots are hoping to add to the three million active female football players in the UK. The women’s game has never been so popular, and they want even more people involved.
One of the first aspects of the campaign will be interviews in the digital edition of the Boots Health and Beauty magazine. It’ll feature talks with players from each of England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland teams.
“It’s so exciting to see how women’s football has taken off over the last few years, especially as a retailer who is proud to champion women’s right to live well, feel better and look great,” said Helen Normoyle, marketing director at Boots UK.
“Via our partnership, we are excited to give the inspirational women in these teams the chance to tell their stories and to hopefully encourage other women to experience the amazing confidence that sport can bring”.
