adidas has dropped four tasty new films to celebrate the launch of its new ‘Exhibit Boot’ Pack, updating the looks of its main boot ranges: the Predator, Copa, X, and NEMEZIZ. We’re talking some of football’s biggest stars parring off the “fakers” who want to own their boots. They’re class. Long live the high-concept football ad.

Fundamentally, adidas are recognising that a flair boot will never be unwelcome as long as you own it with integrity: on the Sunday League pitch, in the five-a-side cage, on a Premier League carpet surface, wherever. Yes, there are people who’ll disagree and others who’ll try and kick you off the pitch, but they’re wrong. In a way.

The Copa 19s brought one of football’s truly classic boots back to the fore of the game, and now they get a darker, more subtle, look with black fading up into neon at the ankle. Dybala, one of Juventus’s many “oh Christ, they’ve got him too” lads, will be wearing these from Saturday onwards. Meanwhile, the man himself shows just how much respect he has for fake YouTube skillers in the film above. He’s in your bedroom. And yours. And yours. And yours.

The Predator update gives the laceless boot a new blue makeover. Pogba says, “the Predator has always been for the players who want to maximise control”, and you can look forward to seeing him dominating with these on telly in good time. All those late runs he’s allowed to do now…. because Solskjær. Catch his mum showing off the genes that made him great in the video spot for the boots. She’d have us in a 1v1 all day.

The NEMEZIZ, with its almost mummy-style wrapping and fit, gets the brightest look of the lot, a neon yellow beacon in the darkness that you just know Bobby Firmino is going to look dynamite in. Oh, yeah, and Messi, too, he’ll probably play alright in them, can’t imagine he’ll have much trouble with that—and look at the actually impressive deadpan performance he drops in the ad. He can act. The man can act.

The X18s get a technical-looking new lick of paint, with a red look woven with highlights of metallic silver that look frankly sexy and will surely glint under the floodlights. Gabriel Jesus takes his turn on the silver screen for them, confirming that we all, really, could have been pros. But we’re not, you know, and that’s fine, no need to lie about it. Still, we reckon some of these boots would get us incrementally closer.

You can pick up your choice of the new boots from this Tuesday, January 22nd, at adidas.com/football. Or get one of each, it’d be understandable.
