WORDS: Sam Diss

Umbro Korea don’t do things by halves.

From showing off the versatility of the Double Diamond’s jersey silhouettes with their very well-received U-Custom bespoke kit designer app to going absolutely tonto on SS19 collection, Umbro Korea know what’s good.

This season’s drop—dubbed ‘On And Off The Pitch’—is a refreshing take on the retro-inspired tracksuits every man and his mate’s been having a go at, offering bright and colourful shapes with modern cuts and relatively subtle styling. Stuff you’d actually wear, basically, instead of just saying you’d wear and then, after you buy it, it lives in your cupboard because you can’t be arsed dressing like a Klasky Csupo cartoon.

Umbro Korea’s SS19 is all quarter-zips and understated logos; understanding the power of the Double Diamond and meting it out with precision, like when they rebooted James Bond and saved the theme tune for the last five minutes in Casino Royale. It’s just like that. Well-deployed, effective. Haven’t gotta go mad with it.

The monochrome track top and surprisingly low-key neon salmon coach jacket (which also comes in black) are too nice for five-a-side and are our picks of the bunch, but special mentions go to the hooded rain jackets that employ the old school Umbro taping with repeating block diamonds along the arms and legs. Lovely stuff.
