People will always tell you what the best thing about non-league football is. Whether it’s being able to drink or smoke or chat with the players in the bar or the cheap entry fees or the terraces. And yes, all of those things are brilliant. But you know what else is brilliant? The dogs. The dogs that are sometimes watching the game, sometimes giving you a bit of much-needed attention, or just chasing a pigeon. The dogs are the best.
There’s an entire Instagram account dedicated to our little fluffy mates at the match, and if you’re not following it, then what are you doing, mate? Non-league dogs are such a big thing that West Didsbury & Chorlton of the North West Counties League Premier Division decided to dedicate their fixture against Padiham to the dogs that make non-league so great, dubbing the match Non-League Dog Day.
With 57 dogs in attendance, we’ve rounded up the best ones:
AGI & WILLOW
SO. MANY. DOGS.
