C.P. COMPANY AND PATTA COLLAB ON CAPSULE COLLECTION

Italian technical outerwear dons C.P. Company and Dutch streetwear label Patta have joined forces on a new collab.
Combining C.P.’s garment dyeing expertise and tech fabric knowhow with Patta’s continuous exploration of culture from their base in the heart of Amsterdam, the SS019 capsule collection is very sweet and, obviously, eye-wateringly expensive. But you get what you pay for, don't you?
Borne out of a chance meeting between the two in Paris and culminating with Patta combing through C.P. Company’s archive in Bologna, and from that respect between the brands, the collection grew naturally (alongside a magazine to be released with the drop).
“What Massimo Osti did for sportswear is unprecedented,” says Patta’s Lee Stuart. “After visiting the archive, our first instinct was to find innovative fabrics and hues that felt compatible with our Amsterdam weather. This also meant finding technical fabrics that could react well to wind and rain, but also breathe and dry quickly.”
Throughout the drop, form follows function; from the choice of water-and-windproof fabrics to the mesh-lined zippers. Jacket sling-styled straps were added to the Italian brand’s classic fishtail parka, enabling the garments to be carried over the shoulders, and other C.P. Company garments like the Goggle Fishtail Parka, jerseys, and beanies were all tested and analysed by the Patta team, to see what could be played with while retaining practicality.
Working alongside the expert eye of C.P. designer Paul Harvey, elements were added or distilled to guarantee the highest possible quality while still staying true to what’s made Patta such a cult brand.
“Street culture is so tied into sportswear, and I think C.P. Company can lay a very credible claim to be the father of all sportswear,” says Harvey. “But the way vintage and contemporary sportswear is now mixed into streetwear, driven by a new generation of influencers, hashtags, resellers, and vintage online retailers, adds yet another layer of interpretation. And working together with Patta—yes, a streetwear brand from Amsterdam, but one that operates on a global platform—can only help us in this interpretation.”
