Sam and Josh were arguing about Salford City this morning, so rather than it end with Josh throwing Sam around like a toy, we got them to write about it here.
I bet the Salford City players, the manager, Graham Alexander, owners Neville, Neville, Butt, Scholes, Giggs, and the 11th richest person in Singapore, Peter Lim, can’t sleep at night knowing people think investing money into a non-league club is unfair. The people thinking it’s ‘unfair’ will be the same wishing that more money was pumped into the infrastructure of the lower-league game, into the often dilapidated terraces and often unpaid wages. A better standard of football and better-paid players, more media interest and bigger gates, will only lead to more investment in the National League. So yeah, fuck ‘em. @SamDiss
Non-league is great, you can go watch the game and stand with your mates and it’s affordable, and it was good before Dulwich Hamlet invented it. Salford City are the antithesis of that. Being propped up by a literal billionaire, while also getting lauded by the media as ‘plucky underdogs’ whenever they’re on the tele doesn’t sit right. People who don’t understand non-league will try and argue that it doesn’t actually matter. But when historic clubs are dying because of teams like Salford taking their potential fans away, they shouldn’t be held up as anything other than shite. @Tidy_Darts
We’ve not really bothered with opinion before, because they’re like arseholes aren’t they, opinions? Anyway, let us know what you think @mundialmag. Or just abuse the lads on their personal accounts. Whatever makes you happy.
